Pelvic ultrasound in Warsaw
A pelvic ultrasound at my practice in Warsaw costs 250 zł (450 zł with a consultation). I do the scan myself, explain it on the screen and you leave with a written report the same day. This site is in English, but appointments are not held in English — bring someone who can interpret, or tell me in advance and we will find a way.
What a pelvic ultrasound is
A pelvic ultrasound examines the internal reproductive organs with sound waves. It shows the uterus and ovaries, the fallopian tubes when something is wrong with them, and the thickness and structure of the endometrium.
It is entirely safe: there is no radiation and no contraindication. It can be done at any age, in pregnancy and while breastfeeding.

The endometrium
The lining of the uterus is assessed separately, for both thickness and structure. It changes through the cycle: about 5–7 mm just after a period and 7–16 mm in the second half. Departures from that can point to hyperplasia, polyps or atrophy.

When a pelvic scan is indicated
How the scan goes
1. Getting ready
You lie on the couch. For a transvaginal scan the bladder should be empty; for a transabdominal one it should be full.
2. The scan
The probe is used with gel. The transvaginal probe is placed in the vagina — painlessly — while the abdominal one moves over the belly.
3. Going through the organs
The uterus, the endometrium and both ovaries are examined in turn, and blood flow is checked. You can see the image on the screen.
4. The result
You hear what was found straight away and can ask about any of it. You leave with a written report and images.
How to prepare
Transvaginal scan
No preparation needed.
The bladder should be empty — just use the toilet beforehand. This gives the clearest view of the uterus and ovaries.
Transabdominal scan
Fill your bladder:
drink 0.5–1 litre of water an hour before and do not empty it until the scan is done. A full bladder acts as a window to see through.
When in the cycle
Best: days 5–10 of the cycle (right after your period ends).
The endometrium is thin then, anything inside the uterus stands out, and the ovaries can be assessed.
Exceptions: acute pain means any day; assessing ovulation means mid-cycle; suspected endometriosis is better seen in the second half.

The practice is easy to reach from Białołęka, Targówek, Bródno and Zielona-Grzybowa, and along Trasa Toruńska from Marki, Ząbki and Nieporęt. No referral or insurance is needed: you can book directly, including if you have just arrived in Poland.
